Fall is a great time to make sure you have a top-notch smile. (Actually, it’s best to make sure you have a top-notch smile all the time). As the leaves change and fall off the trees and the weather gets a bit colder, it’s time to think of your smile. It’s best to do all you can to ensure a top-notch smile and oral health so your teeth and gums can be ready for the holidays. To help you do so, our dentist, Dr. John Anderson, encourages you to do a couple things.
First, take good care of your smile by keeping up on oral hygiene. You should brush, floss, and rinse. In fact, you should brush twice a day, floss once a day, and rinse your mouth daily. You should also visit your dentist if you’re due for a six-month checkup. These things can help you avoid dental issues and have a strong and healthy fall smile.
Second, wear a mouthguard while participating in fall sports. A mouthguard is a strong, tough appliance that can protect your teeth, gums, and jaw when hard, forceful objects hit your mouth. If you don’t wear this appliance, there is a good chance you could suffer knocked-out, cracked, or broken teeth when you get hit. So, remember to always wear a mouthguard while you’re active.
