Are you tired of the Tooth Fairy rewarding your child with money each time they lose a tooth? If so, our dentist, Dr. John Anderson, and our dental team have some good news for you: The Tooth Fairy doesn’t have to give your child money—there are other things she can give them.
The first thing is foreign coins, which is money, yes, but it’s money with mystery. In fact, you can give your child coins from around the world and say the Tooth Fairy traveled to many different places just to get the coins for them. This isn’t as difficult as it might seem. All you need to do is purchase a bag of coins for a few dollars on the Internet and use it for years!
The second thing is a glass bead or a marble. These might seem a little simple, but they can play into a bigger picture. Have your child collect the beads and marbles. When they lose all their teeth, they will have enough marbles to play the marbles game or even have enough glass beads to make a necklace.
The third thing is a sticker. Children love stickers. You can give them one sticker per tooth or even a whole sticker pack per tooth. If you give out movie or cartoon-themed stickers, it might show your child how hip the Tooth Fairy really is.
